The Government of India through the Department of Agriculture, Cooperation and Farmers Welfare has entered into a memorandum of agreement with the International Rice Research Institute for the establishment of the IRRI, South Asia Regional Centre (ISARC) at the National Seed Research and Training Center, Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh on 02 August, 2017.

Through this agreement, the government of India recognizes IRRI as an international organization and to accord to it, its offices and its activities including ISARC, the privileges and immunities provided by the United Nations Act of 1947.

HRDC is a membership-based organization that promotes innovation and access to new germplasm and hybrid rice technology information. It also helps other organizations collaborate in the research and production of hybrid rice varieties. For more information, please visit https://hrdc.irri.org.
